Crane is a city in the United States, located in the western part of the state of Texas, the administrative center of the county of the same name. According to the 2010 census, the number of residents was 3,353; the U.S. Census Bureau estimated 3,723 people lived in the city in 2016.

The settlement was established in 1908 and named in honor of Baylor University President William Crane. The town is the only one in the county and has the only post office in the county. In 1926, an oil field was discovered in the county, and this discovery led to population growth and development of Crane.
